R&D Lighting Technician

Overall responsibility for research and development of new lighting products for commercial release. Including but not limited to planning, design, development, testing and evaluation. Implementation of procedures and maintaining relevant documentation throughout product development and production.

Responsibilities:

Develop new product specifications that comply with industry standards & project requirements

• Create, execute and provide timely reports summarize test and evaluation plans for assigned projects
• Ensure product designs meet technical specifications
• Lead development of test procedures
• Produce and maintain proper documentation
• Indentify and implement solutions to improve product performance and reduce product cost
• Support production by troubleshooting and resolving production problems
• Computer skills required: Word, Excel, Outlook, Auto Cad an asset

Salary commensurate with experience

Basic Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years in lighting or electrical industry, manufacturing and design experience

Additional Qualifications:

Proven record with product testing and development

• Communicate technical ideas effectively using verbal and written skills
• Proven ability with lighting design and photometric calculations
• Highly motivated, sets personal goals, and achieves goals without supervision
• Able to work in a team environment as well as independently
• Knowledge of LED component specifications and applications or controls is an asset
• Extensive knowledge of Electrical Engineering application software is an advantage (AGI, DIALux, AutoCAD, etc.)
